Zumba is a commercial dance fitness program developed by Columbian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez. It represents a type of low-impact exercise that has become very popular, partly due to its very reasonable licensing terms. It is claimed that over 15 million people in 180 countries do Zumba.

Zumba classes are typically 30 minutes to an hour in duration, but the simple dance routines can also be learned from DVDs. There are Zumba Gold programs for the elderly, and even Aqua Zumba done in a swimming pool. The latter might be very good for obese folks who may have difficulty with regular gym style exercising.
